Among the closest shapes (at most one axis off by one step), ordered by score. Re-reviews of the same sake are excluded and each brewery appears once. Where fewer than four qualify, the next closest shapes fill the gap.
Here we introduce the sake that won the gold award at the 2023 New Sake Appraisal (Shinshu Kanpyokai) from Kuribayashi Shuzo, the brewer of Harukasumi. It follows the standard theory for competition sake — 35% rice-polishing ratio and added brewer's alcohol — but stays true to Harukasumi's character in that the rice alone is not Yamadanishiki but the locally native Misatonishiki. The aroma is an exceptionally elegant fruit and ginjo fragrance. The flavour is a crisp, dry finish with restrained sweetness, rounded off elegantly by acidity in the aftertaste.
