Among the closest shapes (at most one axis off by one step), ordered by score. Re-reviews of the same sake are excluded and each brewery appears once. Where fewer than four qualify, the next closest shapes fill the gap.
Kankiku, the pride of Numata's home prefecture of Chiba. With April marking so many of life's milestones, the label's vivid design feels like a celebration of a hare no hi (a day for celebration). Tilt the glass and umami and sweetness rush to fill the mouth, receding to leave behind acidity and a faint bitterness. A sake like the small waves of the Pacific rolling in and out at Kujukuri Beach.
